Solar Eclipse

The famed solar eclipse of 2017 is now in the history books. Did you see it? Here are a few shots, well, quite a few shots. This is what happens when a photographer who likes astronomy goes to see an eclipse. The first is a composite of several shots made at 15 minute intervals. The second is a shot just as totality ended, the famous diamond ring. We visited some friends from church who moved to Nashville a couple of years ago. They were kind enough to let us stay with them and go on our own to see the eclipse the next morning (thank you Jim and Irene!). We found a nice little park with about 100 people in it, next to a lake, in Gallatin, TN. There we became friends with a gentleman named Bernard, a Chef, who came all the way from France to see this eclipse and happened to find the same little park that we did. Who would have thought we would become friends with someone from France in the middle of Tennessee viewing an eclipse? We spoke a lot as we watched the moon eclipse the sun (to my pleasant surprise it is amazing how much we have in common - Vive la France!). This is the first time in my lifetime I have seen totality. I knew it would get dark, I knew the signs and streetlights would come on, I knew we would see the stars in the middle of the day. I also saw something that I didn't expect to see - solar flares, two of them. Look closely and you can see them in these images. I hope you enjoy the shots.

Brooke

We shot another wedding today. Another wedding, I don't want those words to slip by. Some photographers don't like shooting weddings. Others feel it is a lot of pressure. I think it is a privilege. A couple, who is about to celebrate the most important day of their lives to date have entrusted us to capture it for them. I call that a privilege!

Today it was Brooke and Andrew. You might recall Brooke, she was one of our senior models years ago. She has moved into a new phase of her life as a loving, committed, wife. And to think we had the privilege of capturing it for them. Here is an image. Look for them in our Wedding portfolio.

Family

We have had the pleasure of having our niece, Natalie, visiting for the summer. There is nothing more precious than family and nothing more fun than watching our young people grow from childhood into young adults. We spent a couple of hours Saturday (between raindrops and bolts of lightning) getting some shots of her. If there is one thing that will always bring me back to these days, it is a great image of our family members.
